I'm reading this book "how to interview like a top MBA", and one of a top recruiters that has worked with two top consulting companies shared that more than 50% of his successful interviews were guided by the interviewers talking for most of the time because people just want to talk about themselves which make them feel good...
Don't take it the hard way, and he may not have felt really intimidated but that he didn't feel the chemistry was quite right. Strong women do have set-backs no matter how FAIR it looks like^_^
I've passed the first three rounds of interviews with Accenture and the final and 4th round is this Friday. But I can see something similar between us from my first formal interview experience three weeks ago with Golder Associates Inc (a big civil engineering firm). I got G's rejection letter today in mail and the reason was that (per one of the Engineers who happen to be a Chinese and RA for a graduate class that I took 5yrs ago): I didn't know how to listen and I talked too much
You are not alone, and let's put ourselves in their shoes too. From my own experience as an interviewer a few months ago, I did enjoy talking most of the time with a job candidate that I felt good about: her resume already said it all and I didn;t need her to answer too much to confirm my judgement during our conversation.
I'm sorry that you missed this opportunity, but a better one must be waiting ahead and next time you'll be better prepared...
Best wishes
