Our client is a global specialty pharmaceutical company with leadership positions in products for humans and animals. Uniquely positioned to expand internationally, they are presently active in more than 60 countries. Among the world’s leading producers of several important pharmaceutical-grade bulk antibiotics, our client has a growing branded business and is internationally recognized as a leading provider of pharmaceutical products for poultry, swine and cattle.
In order to cope with their business growth and increased investment in China, they now seek a Manager of Operations – China to join their team. The position will be ba<x>sed in the Asia-Pacific headquarters in Beijing and will play an instrumental role in the success of 2 newly acquired manufacturing facilities. The chosen candidate will develop a strong understanding of the company’s product lines; manufacturing capabilities; and sales and & operations ob<x>jectives to ensure that the new facilities are properly integrated into our client’s operations.
SUMMARY OF KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Lead, direct and coordinate all China manufacturing facilities, associated projects and related activities; develop and implement activities to meet EHS and productions goals and quality and cost ob<x>jectives;
· Directly responsible for interviewing, hiring, disciplining, appraising, rewarding and developing employees as appropriate; conducting evaluations; mentoring less experienced staff through formal channels; and implementing career development plans for staff;
· Ensures proper communication of performance and concerns throughout all levels of operations;
· Encourage and challenge reports to take responsibility for their self-development within the company; and
· Develop strong lines of communication across the organization, including marketing, sales, manufacturing, and regulatory in order to facilitate communication regarding technical product and product supply issues.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
· Requires BSc/MSc, in engineering or life sciences
· A minimum of 8 years experience in a specialty pharmaceutical, biotechnology environment or equivalent.
· A background in Project Management is important and demonstrated experience managing interdisciplinary development teams is required.
· Demonstrated leadership skills and operations managerial experience required.
· Experience in an FDA regulated environment preferred.
· Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; use everyday software programs (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
· Ability to effectively develop and present 5 year strategic plans
· Candidates must be fluent in both Mandarin and English.
