Job Description:
This role has the overall responsibility for managing / coordinating
projects for an engineering group at Sun.
Manage software development process. Plan and drive program deliverables
such as business requirements, acceptance criteria, test requirements,
support planning, and training development for engineering projects.
Develop and implement project documentation with regard to tracking
and reporting project progress.
The project manager will work with engineering managers to ensure that
the projects under their supervision are delivered to meet contractual,
financial, schedule, quality and customer satisfaction objectives and
commitments.
Job Description
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Make project plan which includes project scoping, cost estimation,
risk assessment and overall solution formulation
- Work with engineering team to setup project milestones, schedule
- Work with engineering managers to allocate and arrange engineering,
testing and release resources. Manage project resources to maximize
productivity and utilization levels.
- Execute project plans to achieve contractual, financial, quality,
schedule and customer satisfaction commitments.
- Implement management processes and controls to ensure that all project
delivery work are conducted in a quality, consistent and compliant
manner.
- Provide line management level support or intervention to resolve
escalated critical or customer satisfaction issues.
- Provide timely and accurate updates, reports and escalation to senior
management on the health of project delivery operations.
- Promote and implement best practices in project management
- Communicate with multiple groups to coordinate project activities and
delivery schedule. Attend project team meeting to resolve critical
project issues. Organize and host project meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 5 years of IT industry experience, including at least 2 years
of project management experience in engineering organization, preferably
with a major IT or computer vendor.
- Solid track record in managing projects or consulting assignments with
good exposure to complex engineering projects.
- Good understanding of software development process.
- Demonstration of leadership history, project planning, schedule tracking
and execution.
- Has a strong business orientation, possesses high levels of energy and
self-motivation and thrives under pressure in a dynamic and fast paced
environment. Must be a self-starter.
- Results driven and achievement oriented with an aggressive personality
and "can-do" attitude, willing to take on major challenges.
- Strong process orientation, exposure to formal project management and
structured methodologies preferred. Formal project management certification
would be advantageous.
- Business planning, risk management, and change management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluency in English
and Mandarin essential.
- Degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent. MBA
preferred.
