Job Family Description:
Provide technology consulting to external customers and internal project teams. Responsible for providing technical support and/or leadership in the creation and delivery of technology solutions designed to meet customers’ business needs and, consequently, for understanding customers’ businesses. As trusted advisor create and maintain effective customer relationships so as to insure customer satisfaction. Maintain knowledge of leading edge technologies and industry/market domain knowledge. Actively contribute to HP’s solutions portfolio by providing information ranging from technical knowledge to methodologies based on experience gained from customer projects. Shape technical direction and technical strategies within the organization and for external customers. Accountable for consistent and significant chargeability levels (or expense relief for internal project teams) and for assisting in meeting or exceeding revenue and customer satisfaction goals. Contribute to organization’s profitability by generating and cultivating new business opportunities and by providing technical support for deal proposal development.

Job Level Definition: Expert
Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to complex business issues, and is regarded by others within HP as a subject matter expert. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas/methods. Usually works on complex problems or projects where analysis of situations or data requires an in depth evaluation of multiple factors. Regularly exercises significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. Sometimes directs and supervises within area of expertise but does not manage other employees as a primary job function. Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross functional initiatives. Provides mentoring and guidance to employees at lower job levels. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies. Frequently represents the organization to external customers/clients.

Activities:
• Engineer mainframe tools & utilities
• Produce component build artifacts and publish in Knowledge Centre
• Provide 4th level delivery support for engineered solutions
• Interface with delivery organizations to develop global processes, standards and solutions
• Interface with strategic vendors to maintain product knowledge and to ensure engineering direction aligns with vendor roadmap
• Interface with Portfolio to ensure engineered solutions are included in the cost models and reflected in the MMS offerings

Detail Activities:
• Engineer mainframe tools & utilities
o Review Requirements from Delivery & Portfolio
o Conduct Analysis
o Develop Design
o Develop Solutions
o Perform Unit Test
o Perform System Test
o Perform Integration Test
o Perform Capacity Test (where applicable)
o Integrate Solutions with other components (where applicable)
o Package Solutions for Delivery

• Produce component build artifacts and publish in knowledge centre.
o Produce Technical Reference Guide
o Produce Deployment Guide
o Produce Operations Guide
o Produce Bill of Materials/Labor (where applicable)
o Produce User Guide (where applicable)
o Produce Training Materials (where applicable)
o Submit for peer review and approval
o Publish in Knowledge Center

• Provide 4th level delivery support for engineered solutions
o Support Job-1 deployments
o Support solution fixes and maintenance
o Provide 4th level escalation support

• Interface with delivery organizations to develop global processes, standards and solutions
o Establish & maintain relationships with delivery organizations as appropriate
o Review processes, standards, requirements, etc. and discuss as appropriate to ensure full comprehension
o Provide training on engineered solutions


• Interface with vendors to maintain product knowledge and to ensure engineering direction aligns with roadmap
o Establish & maintain relationship with major vendors (IBM, CA, BMC & ASG)
o Enroll in email auto notification for strategic and alternative products
o Attend webcast seminars on product releases & future roadmap
o Review vendor roadmap for alignment with HP strategic & tactical direction
o Identify and submit enhancements as required (DARs, etc.)
o Perform engineering due diligence on all releases & maintenance
o Test new releases & enhancements

• Interface with Portfolio to ensure engineered solutions are included in the cost models and reflected in the MMS offerings
o Establish & maintain relationships with Portfolio
o Review MMS offering materials with Portfolio and provide input as required
o Review engineered solution with Portfolio for inclusion into the cost model and service features


Required Experience & Skills:
Senior level mainframe systems programmers who have experience in the installation and support of operating systems software in a z/OS environment. This would include program products and third party software installation and customization. Tools and automation experience is also essential to support strategic initiatives.

The candidate should be with strong (5+ years) system programming skills supporting Omegamon/XE for zOS, CICS & IMS. This includes knowledge of Omegamon/TEMS & TEPS.


Additional desired skills
• CA , IBM, BMC & ASG life cycle product support
• ASSEMBLER, PL1 & REXX Programming Language
