Storage and Backup Administrator with Linuxand virtualization background.
The work consists of performing primarilyroutine and standardized sets of tasks. It may involve a series of repeatabletasks and steps that are followed when addressing service needs or situationsfor a particular account. Running restorations and on demand backups, as well astroubleshooting backup issues is part of the daily work. An amount of projectwork is required, collaborating on systems built (99% of the times virtualmachines) and storage/backup setup.
Technical requirements:
Strong Linux administration skills: RHCE orequivalent knowledge and at least 5 years experience in Linux productionenvironments: volume manager, common services configuration and setup, networkand application troubleshooting. Ability to quickly identify issue root causechecking log files (this will be tested in interview).
Confident with VMWare administration tasks:vStorage and network troubleshooting skills, familiar with vmware tools at ESXcommand line level, hot/cold migration, disk/machine clonning, VDR. Candidateshould be able to manage the storage from physical to virtual withouthesitation. Powershell scripting is a plus.
Familiar with Storage Managementproducts:
- Support problem and change tickets forstorage systems support work involving problem determination and implementationof changes to storage devices, data backups, software, applications or networksystems.
- Sizing Storage Systems,Virtualization and Consolidation for Storage Systems, Storage Solutions,disks, tapes and SAN, TSM and TPC hands on experience.
- Full confidence on storagereorganization, manage LUNs and volumes in both Linux and AIX OperatingSystems.
- Advanced backup troubleshooting
- Backup Server management (installation,configuration, policy, update)
- Node/ Job management (settings, scheduling,modification)
- Media management (space reclamation andscratch pool management, physical errors on media, ordering tapes and stockmanagement)
- Externalization, off-site management(copy pool management, DRM and vaulting)
- Library management (HW problemstroubleshooting, ITS calls)
Excellent interpersonal and communicationskills (fluent in both oral and written English), being able to interact wellwith customer and partners via calls, meetings, and emails.
Be able to conduct small to mediumengagements with customers independently, providing regular update/report tothe team.
An overall of 6-8 years experience in atleast one of the areas above (Linux, vSphere, Storage) is required for thisposition.
