Socks may seem such a minor detail in gentleman's wardrobe, but they are nvertheless very important in complementing an outfit. The basic principle is that the socks should be just as dark as the shoes, and on the other hand they should not contrast too strongly with the pants and your other clothes. Of course, there is one golden rule about the male leg which is more important than any rules regarding colors and fabric: always wear knee-length socks rather than ankle-length, so that your bare leg is never visible either standing or when sitting.
"西装袜应该是薄而不透明的" is not exactly a true statement. Socks made of wool and wool blends come in various degrees of fineness, from light, almost transparent fabrics to heavy, tough winter weaves. What fabric you choose will depend mainly on the outdoor temperatures, but of course it must also go with the rest of your clothing.
to be on the safe side, choose plain socks, pattened socks require great sensitivity.
