China has over-generous (rediculousl) policy requiring the employers to give the preganent employees about 6-12 months of the so-called "Birth Holidays" with about 80-100% compensations paid. Even the spouse (male) can get about 3 months of free compensation. I don't know how many company really follow that law, but most foreign foreign companies do abide to this regulations. Consequently, when people hire employees, they want to consider if the candidate already has a child or not. (Remember the one child policy.)
If you the owner of a company, and most of your staffs are married young women without kids, you most likely would be very concerned about the extra cost added to the "birth leave".
As for the preference of having "older generations", that can refers to my "Hiring Hungary People" theory. It's always great to hire someone having a pressure and drive to work hard.
