I like reading this type of posts since my major is "international affairs", though focused on international finance and business. I have done some comparison studies between different management philosophies across Atlantic, and also their political,ideological and cultural differences...
We have a heated debate for current "anti-Americanism" and "anti-Europeanism" here in my class. There are some very interesting quotes.
One is a gender-interpretation by contrasting masculine Americans with effeminate Europeans:
Another quotes says Americans are from Mars and Europeans are from Venus. Gun-shy Europeans are able to putter around their Kantian garden only because lethally armed Americans are out there patrolling the Hobbesian jungle to prevent the "post-historical paradise" from being destroyed by various ayatollahs, Saddam Husseins and Kim Jong Ils.
This is particularly referring to current Iraq war.
On the other hand, it is also quite obvious that Europeans and Americans businessmen have different emphasis on basic business concepts like profit, revenue, stock price and competition policy.
There is no country like the U.S. who enjoys putting their most elite business like Microsoft to the shame. The U.S.'s laissez-faire capitalism model versus European moderate socialist capitalism model might be the cause...
